چکیده
BACKGROUND: Tumors of the sternum are rare and can develop from primary bone pathology or through metastatic spread. Sternal resection with immediate reconstruction anterior chest wall defect was recommended for both secondary sternal tumors as curative treatment. AIM: The purpose our study to examine perioperative outcomes, recurrence rate, OS in patients undergoing partial, subtotal, total sternectomy. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed experience resections 29 during a 16-year period. overall survival (OS) RESULTS: found that 5-year 26.0%, Univariate analysis predictors revealed that, there trend toward prolonged at R0 (35.5% vs. 0%, p = 0.058). Expression of neurotrophin receptors in surgically resected thymic epithelial tumors.
OBJECTIVE Neurotrophins are known to exert a variety of pleiotropic responses in different target tissues, but little is known about their effect on thymic epithelial tumors. Therefore, we analyzed the expression of neurotrophin receptors in surgically resected thymic epithelial tumors and evaluated their clinical relevance. METHODS The expression of neurotrophin receptors (Trk-A, Trk-B, Trk-...

BACKGROUND Typical pulmonary carcinoid tumors represent less than 1% of lung tumors. In a subgroup of patients with this abnormality, the tumor is entirely endobronchial. We assessed the long-term outcome of such cases in which the patient was managed with endobronchial resection only. METHODS Patients who underwent bronchoscopic resection for a typical carcinoid tumor were identified through...

Among those with higher stage tumors, two out of three patients were cured after chemotherapy. For the remaining one-third, rescue treatments managed to achieve a remission rate of 66%. Mortality was low and ...

متن کاملCirculating immune cells in patients with surgically resected nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
Background There is debate regarding whether surgical resection and/or lymphadenectomy are indicated for small nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs). Myeloid cell population expansion in peripheral blood has been correlated with clinical stage of patients with solid tumors. We aim to determine if blood sampling can be used as a predictor of malignant potential in nonfunctional ...
